HUNGER NEXT DOOR
The issue of hunger is not one that exists only in far-off lands. It's a problem that's closer to home than you may think. In fact, more than 300,000 Virginia households are struggling with food insecurity.

The hunger next door may be invisible to most of us, but it's a reality for many families, especially during difficult economic times.

TEC's food distribution has been a lifeline for many in Fairfax county Virginia and the surrounding DMV area.
Who We Serve
Children
Through no fault of their own, 65% of our clients are children. In Virginia, one out of eleven children is unsure of where their next meal will come from. In such cases, nutrition often takes a backseat to the pressing issue of hunger.
Seniors
A sizeable portion of our cherished patrons, nearly one-third, are elders grappling with financial limitations due to fixed incomes that impede their ability to tend to their healthcare, changing dietary needs and medical prescriptions.
Single parents
Single parents frequently encounter difficulties in providing healthy and nutritious food for their families due to competing expenses, such as rent, transportation, utilities, and daycare costs.
TEC relies on voluntary contributions to uphold our mission of providing hope, especially in times of crisis. In response to the impacts of COVID-19 on the economy and food security for local families, we operate weekly community food distributions in partnership with local churches, businesses and non-profits around the DMV.
Donations received helps us to continue to serve at various locations. All donations are tax deductible.
Working Adults
Until their next paycheck, a lot of working adults find it difficult to pay their bills. Estimated to need $452,899,000 more per year to meet their food needs. Our objective is to be able to adequately supply their families with wholesome food.
veterans
Veterans of the US Military are frequently among the people who hide the true face of hunger. More and more military families are experiencing food insecurity. It is estimated that one in five military families experience food insecurity.
homeless
Similar to hunger, homelessness is a sign of a more serious systemic failure. In addition to providing food assistance initially, we collaborate with group homes and shelters to offer resources that lead to self-sufficiency and sustainability.
A donation of $10 helps keep food on the table for a family next door.
